Because I am going to share my story with you on how I was able fix the red light on PS3 – the ups, the downs, the worthless advice I got, and finally the one thing that finally helped me to get completely rid of the blinking red light for good with a simple and quick fix to the red light on ps3.

A little while back I was going through my weekly Saturday routine of getting up early and enjoying some quality gaming time on my playstation. This time, however, it didn’t power red light on ps3up but instead kept flashing red lights at me. I reset it, unplugged it, re-plugged it back in, unplugged all of the cords and plugged them back in, basically everything I could think of , but nothing worked – I had been struck by the PS3 red light of death.

After a few days of seeing the same awful red light flashing, I decided to do some research online. I found that there were a bunch of people struggling from the same red light on ps3 problem or similar playstation 3 problems. However, the only advice I was able to find was to ship it to Sony and have them repair it for me. From what I gathered it would probably cost $150 and I would be without my playstation for 2-6 weeks (although there were many horror stories of people having to pay upwards of $300 for their repairs and it taking up to 3 months to get their console back).

I contacted Sony and they told me to ship it to them and that I had to pay for the shipping and that the shipping cost would not be applied to the red light on ps3 repair. I naturally looked into shipping costs and found that from where I lived shipping to Sony would be more than $75 dollars! By now I was experiencing very high levels of frustration. I had invested hundreds of dollars not only in the Playstation 3 itself, but I had also invested hundreds of dollars into games and accessories, not to mention I was now without my favorite Saturday morning activity.  Frustrating red light on ps3!

I considered just buying a brand new one, but there was one question that kept popping up that I couldn’t come up with a valid argument against: How do I know the same thing won’t just happen again? So I decided against a new one and started researching online how to fix a PS3 myself. After reading blogs and forums for countless hours I had gotten nowhere. All I could find were more people with the same frustrations about the ps3 red blinking light telling me I had two options: ship it to Sony to get it fixed, or buy another one.

Couldn’t Buy a Red Light on PS3 Fix…

I’m a pretty persistent guy so I started visiting some local stores that do electronics repairs. Almost everybody had the same response: they had never done playstation repairs before and they didn’t want take on the liability. I finally was able to find a guy who said he new how to fix PS3’s, but he wouldn’t be able to get around to it for at least 4 weeks because he was so backed up with other repair orders. He did show me a PS3 repair guide however and told me seriously that anybody could fix their playstation 3 errors by following that guide. Honestly, I was quite pleasantly surprised at how simple and easy to read it was. After reading through the guide I felt confident that I could follow its instructions successfully and fix the red light on ps3 myself, so I went for it. Now, I must tell you that the guide instructs you to take the console apart, down to its bare pieces and if I’m being totally honest it racked my nerves a little bit. Having detailed pictures and simple instructions, however, made the process much easier than I thought it would be; and in less than 90 minutes, having used nothing but a screwdriver, I seriously asked myself, “Is that it?” There was only one way to find out if I had indeed fixed the red light on ps3.

I excitedly (yet somewhat apprehensively as well) started plugging in all of the cords and setting up my playstation. Bracing myself for what the verdict would be I pressed power and watched as it turned right on as if nothing had happened, and sure enough the red light on PS3 that blinked at me relentlessly was nowhere to be seen. I followed a couple of suggestions from the guide on how to avoid playstation 3 problems in the future and am VERY happy to say that I have not noticed a single glitch since and was able to immediately resume my early Saturday morning gaming, and continue to now.

Is the Red Light on PS3 a Power Supply Problem?

If you are experiencing a red light on ps3 then you know that this can be a very frustrating thing indeed.  Not only are you not able to enjoy your playstation but you also have no idea what is causing it or how to fix it.  The fact is there are a number of playstation 3 problems that will cause the ps3 red light.  In this article we will discuss how to determine if the ps3 red flashing light is being caused by your power supply and then what you can do to get rid of the playstation 3 red light for good.

Determining if the Power Supply is the Problem

How to Avoid Similar Problems in the Future

Avoid PlayStation 3 Repairs – Treat Your Power Supply Right

One of the more common reasons for a red light on ps3 is a bad power supply, and this problem is becoming more and more prevalent. A power supply problem will definitely cause flashing red lights and believe me, there are few things more frustrating than this. You can avoid power supply failures and therefore the ps3 flashing red light simply by following a few easy guidelines. The first guideline is to keep your console in an open area. Think of it as being claustrophobic and as such it is prone to overheating and malfunction if kept in too tight of a space. Overheating is the most common cause of power supply failure.

Avoid Red Light On PS3 – Keep it Clean

Obviously for many of you it’s too late to try to avoid getting the dreaded red light on ps3. Luckily for you, there is a comprehensive guide that will take you by the hand and show you (literally with detailed pictures and real time videos) step by step how to fix the ps3 blinking red light from beginning to end in less than 2 hours. For the rest of you who were fortunate enough to have found this article before being faced with the ps3 red light of death, be grateful and follow these simple guidelines to ensure that you never have to face those frustrating playstation 3 problems.

You must keep your ps3 clean. Buildup of dust and cobwebs makes it much more difficult to keep the inside of your console ventilated. Lack of ventilation leads to overheating which can cause all sorts of problems, most of which will lead to flashing red lights.
